Windows Firewall

You should be able to install Incredible Charts without any interference from Windows Firewall. 
Windows Firewall does not block outgoing communication from software installed on your computer; only unsolicited communication from the Internet.

If you find that Incredible Charts will not work while your firewall is active:

  1. Temporarily disable your firewall to complete the installation
  2. Then amend your firewall settings.

 

Right-click and select Copy Shortcut to link to this paragraph   To Remove/Disable Windows Firewall

This applies to Windows XP Service Pack 2:

  1. From your Start button, select Control Panel >> Windows Firewall
  2. On the General tab, select Off
  3. Don't forget to re-enable the firewall when you have completed the installation.

  1. From your Start button, select Control Panel >> Windows Firewall
  2. Select Incredible Charts on the Exceptions tab

  1. Click the Edit button
  2. Click the Change Scope button (on the Edit A Program window)

 

  1. Select Any Computer on the Change Scope window
  2. Click OK twice.

Custom list (not recommended)

If you want to create permission for specific IP addresses only:

  • Select Custom list in the Change Scope window
  • Add the following IP addresses to the Custom list, separated by commas:
    66.70.45.174,208.70.245.30,195.92.253.137

 

Windows XP Service Pack 1

If you find that Incredible Charts will not work while your firewall is active:

  1. Temporarily disable your firewall to complete the installation
  2. We recommend that you upgrade to Windows XP Service Pack 2.

 

Right-click and select Copy Shortcut to link to this paragraph   Remove/Disable Internet Connection Firewall

  1. Select Start >> My Network Places
  2. Under Network Tasks (in the left margin) select View Network Connections
  3. Right-click your connection icon (eg. Local Area Connection) and select Properties
  4. Select the Advanced tab
  5. Clear the check box under Internet Connection Firewall
  6. Click OK

 

Right-click and select Copy Shortcut to link to this paragraph   Upgrading to XP Service Pack 2

  1. Go to Start >> Control Panel >> System
  2. Select the Automatic Updates tab
  3. Select Automatic and click OK
  4. Then go to Start >> All Programs >> Windows Update
  5. Select Express Install and click the Install button
